LIBRARY LAUNCHES NEW DATABASES
The Lupton Library Web Committee is pleased to announce the launch of
its redesigned "Electronic Databases" page at:
               http://www.lib.utc.edu/databases
This redesign incorporates several features to help make the
research process easier for students, faculty, and staff:
    - A broader range of database subject categories, more closely
matching the names of academic departments (33 categories vs. 19
categories used on the former page).
    - Less scrolling and faster page loading times, especially for
dial-up users.
    - The addition of green "Full-text" icons next to those database
titles that provide some degree of full-text access.
    - Greater cross-referencing of databases across subject categories.
    - Left-side navigational links to all subject categories from each
results list of databases.
    - The ability to rank the order of databases in each subject
category list from top to bottom by relevance and depth of content in a
specific
field (as opposed to simple alphabetical order).
    - Links to vendors' title lists and to Database User Guides when
available.

NOTICE FOR STUDENTS WHO MAY BE COMPLETING A PRACTICUM, INTERNSHIP,
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE, ETC. IN A HEALTH CARE CARE DISCIPLINE
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations has
implemented a new policy that requires criminal background checks for
all persons who work or do clinical studies on those facilities.
Some affiliated clinical facilities may require a criminal
background check before allowing students to participate in training
programs at those facilities. Information revealed by a criminal
background check may cause an affiliated clinical facility to determine
that a student will not be allowed to participate in a training program
at the facility.
In that event, the student may be unable to complete the
requirements of the program. In addition, information revealed by a
criminal background check may preclude licensure or employment.
Students who are planning to complete such an educational
experience are advised to contact their program director for additional
information.
