You may remember that virtuoso violinist Janice Martin has twice in the
last year appeared on the Patten Series. This week, in conjunction with her
Tuesday evening concert at Southern Adventist University and with the Cadek
Department of Music's Contemporary Music Symposium , Ms. Martin will appear
again at the Fine Arts Center. On Wednesday, at noon, Ms. Martin will
perform, discuss her work as a touring professional and her violin, a
Nineteenth Century Stradivarius, as well as conducting a session with
recent UTC graduate, violinist Elizabeth Faidley.

After the program, you may join Ms. Martin and her party for a chat and
lunch at 1:00 at the Faculty Club in the Patten House. I have asked Stephen
Clark to post the Wednesday menu, if possible. If you plan to have lunch
that day as part of this group, please let him know.

The program is offered free of charge by the SunTrust Chair of Excellence,
who regularly brings us fine speakers and other events. Thanks to Dr.
McClay and to Dr. McNair, who graciously made this extra event possible.
