The UTC Political Science Club is sponsoring a debate between UTC
College Democrats and Campus Republicans on Monday, October 27 at 7 p.m.
in the Benwood Auditorium. In a non-partisan way, participants hope to
inform undecided voters on key presidential election issues. President
of the UTC Political Science Club, Allyson Smith, and Katherine Wells
will be the non-partisan moderators.

Democrats and Republicans will each have four student panelists who will
respond to questions relevant to the issues college students find
important.

"Each team will have 90 seconds to respond to a question, and then 45
seconds for a rebuttal," Smith said. "We will discuss foreign policy,
the Supreme Court, healthcare, and tax questions. Also, I have included
campaign ethics questions and higher education issues."

Smith said the debate is "student owned and operated. I am looking
forward to a spirited debate."
