UTC's Washington Center Internship & Academic Credit Program Summer
2005 & Fall 2005 Presentation/Application Information UTC is offers an
exciting opportunity for students (any major, undergraduate or graduate
student, with at least a 3.0 GPA and sophomore status) to get academic
credit and obtain a major-related internship in Washington, D.C.
through the Washington Center Program. Each summer and semester, UTC
will
help fund this experience for a few, selected students. (In fact, this
semester we have a student working in the Canadian Embassy and another
working in Tennessee Congressman, Harold Ford's office.) Additional
scholarships also are available through some of the internship
employers.

Internship placements are made in various fields within private,
public, and nonprofit sectors. There are numerous internship employers;
some examples include: The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,
National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Education, National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Amnesty International, The
Washington Times, The White House Media Affairs Office, U.S. Department
of Justice, The Environmental Protection Agency, Washington law
offices, Congressional offices, and foreign embassies. In addition, the
program provides all participants with unique opportunities to visit
foreign embassies as well as attend a congressional breakfast series
(with current Congressmen and Congresswomen) and a presidential lecture
series (with international, national and local leaders).

On Monday, February 14, Jack Levinson of The Washington Center will be
visiting the UTC campus. If you are interested in pursuing this program,
please plan to attend his presentation:
