NO MESSAGE DISTRIBUTED OVER THE UTC SCRAPPY LIST FOR STUDENTS WILL
CONTAIN AN ATTACHMENT. IF YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM SCRAPPY OR FROM
ME WITH AN ATTACHMENT, DO NOT OPEN THE FILE.

Currently there is a Windows virus that randomly selects email
addresses from your address book and other files on your computer and
attempts to distribute itself both to these addresses and using one
random address as the originating address. This makes it appear that
someone you know is distributing the virus, when in fact, they may
not be doing so.

If you receive these virus messages, it may appear that you have
received it from someone you know, and they may or may not have the
virus. For more information about this and other viruses, check the
Symantic Security Response Center at:

I use a Mac which will not distribute a Windows virus. Additionally,
UTC runs anti-virus software on all of our PCs and Macs.

In general, if you receive email with an unexpected attachment, do
not open it. Most viruses are distributed as attachments.
