The Graduate School will host a thesis workshop on Wednesday, October 23,
from 1-5 p.m. in Library 208.
While the event is particularly for graduate students, it may be of
interest to undergraduate students who are writing honors papers or other
substantial research/project papers.
The first session from 1-2 p.m. is entitled "Getting Ready" and will
include defining the topic, selecting a committee, human subject
regulations, writing a prospectus, and a setting realistic timetable.
Professors Eileen Meagher and Janet Secrest will be the presenters.
The second session from 2-3:30 p.m. is entitled "Researching and Writing"
and focuses on writing the literature review, writing the draft, revising,
and editing. Professors Jane Fife, Sheila Delacroix, and Deborah Arfken
will be the presenters.
The final session from 3:30-4:30 p.m. is entitled "Defending Your Thesis"
and provides helpful suggestions for preparation and clarifies the
responsibilities involved. Professors Nesli Alp, Vic Bumphus, and Ms.
Christine Bock (graduate student) will be the presenters.
Please encourage any students who are writing theses--regardless of whether
they are in the beginning, middle, or final stages of their work--to attend
some or all of the sessions.
Refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be given for each session.
