Im not sure what the big to-do is all about. I believe in the philosophy of
K.I.S.S.S. (keep it short sweet and simple, stupid)... Why doesn't HP just
release the source code of MPE to the third party vendors, collect some
royalties and be done with it. (bye bye HP!!!) The third party vendors can
then pick and choose which platform MPE will run on (like IBM's OS390 or
SUN). I shutter to think that one would really want to run a corporate
mission critical application with hundreds of users on an Intel platform. I
am also personally against putting MPE on HP-UX simply because its an HP
product. Who knows when HP will abandon the 9000 line.

Neil makes an interesting point. However, at this stage I'd suggest not
burdening HP with anything that makes the decision making process any more
complicated - they are doing too good a job at this themselves. They seem to
be approaching the problem from the standpoint of "why it won't work"
instead of "how can we make it work".

While I disagree with this restriction, I would suggest that something will
have to built into the license agreement that allows continued use of the
emulator on hardware other than HP, when HP terminates Intel platforms.

HP has a clear history of abandoning hardware platforms.

I'd hate to find myself in the same situation I do now when HP announces EOL
on all PC/Server hardware in 2006.....
