The polls are now open for the OpenMPE Board of Directors election
(www.openmpe.org). There are six candidates, including three incumbents,
running for five seats. You must be a member of OpenMPE (member number
required) to vote. If you are unsure of your member number, the OpenMPE web
site contains information about how to retrieve it.

I am one of the six candidates running for election to the OpenMPE Board of
Directors. If you do not already know of me, there is an extensive biography
on the OpenMPE web site and even more extensive information on my web site.

I agree wholeheartedly with the objectives of OpenMPE, but do not agree with
the way the objectives have been pursued to date. I have been following
OpenMPE closely since it was formed. I have declined several past
invitations to run for a seat on the Board for personal and professional
reasons. However, because I believe passionately in MPE-IMAGE, I cannot
stand on the sidelines any longer. Rather than continuing to complain in
this and other forums, I decided to put aside past reservations to run for
the Board of Directors of OpenMPE. If elected I promise to

1. Improve communication between the OpenMPE Board, OpenMPE members and the
MPE-IMAGE community at large;
2. Hold HP publicly accountable for missed deadlines and broken promises
while pursuing more of a partnership than I believe currently exists; and,
3. Work passionately for the OpenMPE objectives, to ensure MPE-IMAGE lives
on in some form past 2006.

Thank you for your consideration.
