Doug,

They independently came to the decision that resigning their seat was in
the best interest since their respective companies had made strategic
decisions about their direction and future involvement with the MPE platform
regardless of the success or failure of the OpenMPE efforts. John and Chris
did struggle at times to have the available "extra time" for this effort,
but then so do all of us. Both of them were great supporters of the effort
and good team members. Everybody on the board has conducted themselves with
the utmost professionalism and I (personally) don't believe there was any
"none compatibility" issue every involved, with regards to the other board
members. Furthermore, I don't believe either of them felt this was (or is)
a "lost cause". It simply was no longer strategic with their companies
goals and plans. I don't recall if it was every "made public", per say, but
it was listed in the minutes of the meeting where we accepted their
resignations.

I have included the original text of the resignation letters from Chris and
John below.

Thanx,
        Jon

---- Letter of Resignation from Chris Miller:

To Open MPE Board of Directors,

This letter is to confirm my resignation form the OpenMPE board of
directors. It has been my great pleasure to serve as a board member of
OpenMPE. MPE and the HP3000 have been an integral part of our business since
HP developed the system. However, the current business environment along
with HP's decision to discontinue the system has ultimately caused us to
focus our future business development on other platforms.

My resignation should not be perceived as a disavowing of OpenMPE or it's
goals by myself or GTS, Inc.. I believe that there is definitely a place for
this organization in the support of MPE customers for the next several
years. I will continue to monitor your progress and if there is anything I
can do in the future to aid your organization please do not hesitate to ask.

Chris Miller
Genesis Total Solutions, Inc.

---- Letter of Resignation from John Marrah:

To Open MPE Board of Directors,

This letter is to confirm my resignation from the OpenMPE board of
directors. Being on the board of OpenMPE has been a great pleasure in the
past year and I am proud to have worked with each of you. Most importantly,
each of you should be proud of your accomplishments in shaping the direction
of MPE in the coming years. We at Ecometry have many customers that do and
will continue to run on MPE. Based upon the activities of OpenMPE and HP,
our customers can breath more easily. The MPE end of life extensions and
the new announcements that will be given at HP World should be positively
received by our MPE customers. But for Ecometry it is time for us to focus
all of our efforts on our HP/UX and Windows 2000 products.

It is important to recognize that my resignation has no negative
connotation towards OpenMPE as I still believe that OpenMPE will work with
HP to achieve the OpenMPE mission. Please continue to view me as a
supporter and Friend of Open MPE.

Sincerely,

John Marrah
President
Ecometry Corporation

I had not heard they resigned. Was this ever made public to this list?
Why did they leave? Lack of time? Not compatible with the other board
members? Lost cause?

Thanks for the insight.
