For the $500-$1000 we're talking about a system that you could only use for
development (a personal MPE development system essentially) and not a system
that you could replace a "real" 3000 with or run your business on.  All of
the emulator companies would, I assume, expect you to pay "some thousands of
dollars" for an emulator that could be used to replace a production system
and thus be used for homesteading, etc.

The exact definition of "some" is not well defined at this time, and I doubt
that any of the potential emulator product developers are going to speculate
publicly on this yet, both because of competitive issues and that both the
costs of development and size of the market may yet be largely uncertain.
