Were you able to attend Dave Wilde's presentation at HPWorld? The
above statement had to do with a preview of that presentation and the
subject matter behind it as delivered to the board with the
understanding that it was to be kept confidential until Dave made his
presentation. Quite a number of the things that we are advocating
tend to involve attornies, and until HP legal can bless anything, it
is in no one's interest to discuss it. Rumors without any substance
get started that way and the wrong rumor can have much more
destructive force during these tenuous times.

However, I will stand behind the accomplishments that have been made
in the past year. Shortly after last year's announcement of the
demise of MPE, that was it ... there was no future beyond EOL. But,
this year, we see that there is a possible future. That future is
thanks to both OpenMPE advocacy and CSY's willingness to work with
the community.

So, perhaps the name isn't the best description of what is now the
main function. Names have a tendency to lose their original meaning
as the scope of an organization's focus changes. Heck, HotPoint used
to be a company selling only stoves, they now sell much more than
that ... Frigidaire used to sell only cooling equipment, they now
sell things that heat, too.

The main point is that we are successfully advocating for the
survival of MPE beyond EOL, and we seem to be making good progress. I
will let time tell whether or not we have been successful.
