        Yes, several companies, such as Beechglen and Allegro, have made public
statements of support beyond HP.  What HP is talking about here is what they
might do to better enable companies like these to provide that support.  The
same can be said for the hardware support companies, such as Ideal and
others.

I was under the impression that several 3rd party support companies have
already committed to support after EOS and EOL.  Beechglen has committed
to supporting HP3000's "until their last customer pulls the plug", and
Allegro
has committed to support until at least 2011 (or maybe it was 2016, I'm not
sure now.)  A European company whose name I don't recall has also posted
a commitment to long-term support.
