It already HAS happened... it just cost more money than Pete expects.

IMAGE translates very nicely into Eloquence.... I can't say enough good things about Eloquence and Marmeier in general.

VPlus is turned into XML in two simple commands with Edwin.... takes seconds.

All of the intrinisics are covered in MPUX to handle the DB, VPLUS and MPE system intrinsics.

I personally compiled over 500 HP COBOLII programs with very few modifications using ACUCOBOL.

They all are very integrated and work closely together.

It just costs money... but if a lot of money and effort have already been put into an inhouse system... it may be worth it.
