I am not stunned at all John, and neither should anyone else be  
either. Unlike requests members of a normal community, these requests  
are parasitic. Oh, the individuals making the requests are probably  
nice people as individuals, but the basic request is along the lines  
of "You people that used to have these jobs, please help me do you  
job, for free."

A developed country cannot compete against a developing country at  
this stage without the use of trade barriers and tarrifs, among other  
things. Just study the trade history of the U.S with Japan for an  
example of how it is supposed to work.

Trade with Canada is based upon trading with an equal trading partner,  
both sides enjoy eqaul benefit, and take equal economic risks. This is  
anything but the case with India, or with China, for that matter.
