Mark,
Exactly (thank-you). We all know it's not going to be free and we also get
the impression that HP is having a tough time coming up with a number. If
we as a group can start to come up with a 'reasonable' consensus number,
that might help push HP in the right direction. I keep saying 'reasonable'
because if we come up with a really low number, like $1 or $100, then HP
could either ignore it or take forever trying to reach it. It would be
better for us, as business people and understanding that there are cost
involved (like Mark mentioned below), to come up with a number that is
acceptable to us (read - willing to pay even if we don't agree that we
should have to) and do-able for HP.
Thanx,
Jon

As has been stated before, there are pieces of MPE (and in some
cases, very integral pieces like Mentat Streams [internal IPC] code)
that are licensed from 3rd party vendors and are part of the core OS.
I sincerely doubt that we will be able to get them to give away
licenses for free.
So, please, let's not focus on "the fee itself" and spend some time
trying to ascertain what might be considered a reasonable fee as I
think was Jon's intent.
Regards,
M.
