Wirt,

        I see your telnet client is a different version (assuming I'm readying it
right [A7000000] versus [A5500000]).  What version of MPE are you running on
that 3000?  I'm guessing 5.5.  I wonder if there is a different telnet
setting on the Cisco router that I want to set.

This is what I get when I do the same thing, telnetting to our Cisco gateway
router:
