It was a fairly uneventful first half. The game kicked off with OpenMPE looking
optimistic and generally passing the ball well between themselves. However, HP
got hold of the ball and refused to relinquish it. The OpenMPErs became
frustrated and seemed intent in letting HP hold onto the ball. The game continued
this way for some time until one of the OpenMPErs broke ranks and grabbed the
ball against the wishes of his teammates. He was promptly substituted but the
OpenMPE tactics had to be radically overhauled. The Captain took himself off and
some new blood was introduced with stated intentions to liven up the game. By the
time the half-time whistle went, the fans were rather discouraged by the
OpenMPErs lack of possession and HP's lack of inventiveness although the ball was
in their side of the pitch most of the game. Lets hope the half-time talk
inspires both teams to come out with a more positive attitude and maybe the game
can produce a result.

Cheers,

John Dunlop
