IMHO, perhaps the focus of Open MPE does need to change. I would suggest that the new board expand the mission statement to Open PARISC.
PARISC Linux http://www.parisc-linux.org/ has tremendous amount of documentation, code, and discussion useful to all PA-RISC systems.

Given the incredibly slow pace of progress for Open MPE, and the obvious HP objective of 'converting' as many MPE shops remaining to HP-UX, it is not too soon to start an Open HP-UX initiative. Just the mention of Open HP-UX could get a different level of attention, and could be leverage for further progress on the MPE branch.

It certainly would be extremely short sighted of the new HP-UX purchaser to wait for the next "Dear Valued HP Customer:" letter without an iron clad guaranteed 'Open' future path. Moreover, since all of these PARISC based systems share PDC, hardware drivers, and other base components, a certain amount of 'ecosystem' conservation of effort exists.
