A now moot question would be this: How many more sales and how much better
would the quarter have been if a continuing path for MPE through OpenMPE would
have been in place?

Was this a "missed" marketing opportunity?

Granted, it would have been a short term gain for HP, but with the attitude that
seems to be coming out of the "official" HP corporate information sources, for
the HP3000 it is either migrate or "go away".

I would tend to believe that all those who have made the decision to migrate
have either started the move or at least identified themselves to HP as
candidates for assistance. For those that are not talking to HP because of a
lack of faith in ANY future with HP, they have already investigated other
options and/or are waiting to see what happens with OpenMPE. If HP were to
take positive action with OpenMPE, I suspect HP could generate some additional
upgrade / used equipment through their business partners as a result.

Considering this, OpenMPE should be included in the "marketing opportunities"
and I would hope that the board can represent this to HP.
