Tom,

Largely correct. The emulator would emulate the PA-RISC instruction set on
"another" computer. Exactly what "another" computer means is up to the
emulator vendor(s). It could be IA-64, Intel, something not even thought up
yet, or it could even run on top of HP-UX on a PA-RISC box not supported as
an e3000.

Thanx,
        Jon

It seems that there is some confusion about what the emulator really would
be. It would, as I understand it, emulate the PA-RISC instruction set on an
IA-64 chip. This means that as long as the IA-64 chip is around, the
PA-RISC emulator would run on it, and MPE would run under the emulator.

As for the issue of running on an HP platform, this would be a licensing
requirement. However, there is no way for the emulator (or MPE) to know for
certain whether it is really running on an HP machine or not, so there
would be no way for the PA-RISC emulator to enforce that requirement.
