No, I don't have a life, I have my non-MPE technical classes to attend!

In gerneal, I think this is quite good news. A license will be possible.
Now we need to await an emulator and it's licensing. I do agree with John
though that there shouldn't be any reason stopping HP from bundling ALL MPE
add-on subsystems (ex ODBC?) with the operating system. HP could/should also
look more closely at a similar structure for PA-RISC based MPE - just think
"as is" shrinkwrapped MPE w/o a pile of manuals.

The whole concept of low-overhead MPE distribution w/o support is a radical
change from the past. I still think that this kind of business is actually
potentially profitable for HP. If the concept was ...

1 - ALL software bundled together
2 - NO support (call somebody else)
3 - NO paper documentation (print it from the CD yourself)
4 - No patches, multiple concurrent versions, etc.
5 - Simple fixed fee license purchase (as now proposed)
6 - No artificial limits - All possible HW platforms, CPUs, etc supported (NO
crippling!)
7 - And most importantly..... ongoing enhancements to the software

Would people be willing to pay say $1000 for this every time they needed a
copy/upgrade? Even low-budget me would be spending that amount every so
often to keep current.
