Reply To: | [log in to unmask][log in to unmask], 9 Oct 2002 12:01:41 -0400266_- Just a housekeeping issue ... Does anyone have a good method for copying the history from the OpenMPE Yahoo list to this one. If this is the one that we'll use going forward, we should have everything in one place. Item #2, Open Source-ness.
Wasn't this a direction under consideration years ago? Haven't some portions
of subsystems gone open-source through the INTEREX? Can't HP still make
money off MPE even if they give away the source under GNU? I don't get it.
It would seem the best of both worlds, they could continue to offer support
service to those willing to pay for it; AND dump the development.

Subject: No Current Plans
Continuing to work are way through each section of the OpenMPE
presentation
from HP World. Are there further thoughts, reactions, and/or concerns on
the section HP labeled "No Current Plans"?
"No Current Plans"
* No plans to enable 9000s to be converted to 3000s
* No plans to release an "Open Source" version of MPE
* No plans to make SSCONFIG publicly available
* No plans to make MPE/iX 7.0 or 7.5 available on 9x7 hardware
* No plans to increase the performance level of existing platforms.
Thanx,
