Unfortunately, I do agree with Wirt.
I grew concerned early in the process that the OpenMPE board was
following the Interex path of valuing its relationship with HP more
highly than the community it claimed to represent. This concern only
grew when in your thread "MPE Licensing" you claimed to be asking a
hypothetical question about what we would be willing to pay when in fact
you were conducting marketing research requested by HP.
I have taken a lot of heat on this list for being overly negative
whenever I challenged the secrecy or direction of the board. Perhaps I
was, but it is difficult to sustain confidence when the board volunteers
little information and most questions are answered by waving an NDA or
accusations of ingratitude.
A short time ago you asked a question of the list:
"What is it you feel the OpenMPE organization and community should be
doing?"
I responded with a question of my own:
"What is it you feel that the OpenMPE organization has accomplished?"
My question was a serious one, but it went unanswered. Perhaps that
information is also covered by an NDA.
The secrecy of the process has drained most of the energy from the
community and time is running out. Or, as Wirt said, it may already be
too late.
Comments are my own, not my employer's... Etc.
