I am not sure that an Intel box is inherently any less reliable, assuming
it is made up of high quality components.  You can use error correcting
memory, SCSI, raid arrays, etc. and if you do then the reliability is
great.  I suspect that the reason that you reboot is more to do with a
mickey mouse operating system written by a cast of thousands of green
graduates (M$) than the hardware.  Even running windows (an NT derivative
such as Win2000), the system is pretty reliable if you can contain yourself
and only run one application on a box.  I am sure that Denys will tell you
how reliable his windows systems are and my experience has been similar.
