Because HP knows deep down they screwed up by trying to kill it when CF wanted to gone because there
was no room for a propriety OS in it's line up of Commodity system line up. HP did not break out the value in MPE from HP-UX wich sells for very slim margins.

Also since they were taken over by Compaq no pun intended, there mind set changed. There used to be a community atmosphere at HP. Carly liked the idea of how Compaq lawyers ran things and so the air in HP was changed from openness to draining the company of all it's talant pool.

Q.The longer they hold out, the less viable MPE becomes. Is that their plan, waiting until there is no hope of resurrection?

You answered your own question.

That is why people like you are a must to keep the flame burning. The board at OpenMpe have their hands tied. That does not mean they don't care, it's HP having them sign their life away with exclusive NDA's. I compare it to working for NSA. You cannot tell what you know or you will be eliminated. Then the slow death sentence of MPE. What HP did not plan for was the heavy resistance. People like you,the captain and there are many others that keep a low profile that are ready to keep MPE around for many years to come.
