Hi 3000-L and OpenMPE,

vCSY has completed its review of the 2003 SIB. We want to thank
Interex, and everyone who voted, for their contribution to making
the SIB successful. vCSY endorses this process and plans on using
the next SIB as input to our 2004 planning.

We have a positive response for 40% of the top 10 items: we plan
on continuing our PowerPatch process through end-of-support, we
will keep our documentation on the HP net or allow a 3rd party(ies)
to host it, we will ensure that large disk drives and FTP'ing large
files work on MPE/iX, and we plan on implementing CI functions.

Below is HP's item by item response:

1 Remove CPU throttling code post 10/31/2003
   - no plans.

2 Put external and internal MPE/iX documentation on net
   - a) MPE/iX external documentation will continue to be available
on the Net beyond the end of HP support at HP sites and/or
         3rd party sites.
      b) the availability of internal MPE/iX documentation will be
evaluated as we get closer to the end of support date.

3 Produce a "parking" PowerPatch for 6.5, 7.0, 7.5
   - We see two main issues expressed by this item:
      a) the desire for vCSY to continue to provide timely
PowerPatch releases up to the end of HP support.
      b) the desire to be able to get MPE add-on s/w beyond HP's
end of sales and end of support dates.

For a), we plan on providing approx 2 Powerpatch releases
per year across all HP supported OS releases. These Power
Patches will cover 6.5, 7.0 and 7.5 for the duration of their
support life. For instance, in 2003 we may provide a PP for
6.5 and for 7.5. In 2004 we may provide a PP for 6.5 and 7.0.
In 2005 we may provide a PP for 7.0 and 7.5 etc. Note: MPE/iX
Release 6.5 goes off HP support on 12/31/2004.

For b), our roadmap for add-on s/w is still under development
and we will provide an update at HP World.

4 License ss_config to third parties after 2006
   - no plans.

5 Support gigabit LAN connectivity
   - no plans.

6 Enable MPE/iX 7.x to boot on 9x7s post 10/31/2003
   - no plans.

7 Verify FTP for >8GB files both ways, fix problems
   - yes, staffed project.

8 Make sure MPE can mount any disk up to ~ 1TB
   - yes, staffed project.

9 Bundle all of ALLBASE with Image/SQL after E-O-sale
   - Our roadmap for add-on s/w is still under
and we will provide an update at HP World.

10 CI functions: call another script as a function
   - yes, design work has begun.

regards,
 Jeff Vance, vCSY
