Each March OpenMPE holds an election for seats on the Board of
Directors (BOD). OpenMPE has a total of nine Directors. In keeping
with good practice to assure corporate stability and as required by our
Bylaws, the election terms of members on the Board are staggered. Each
seat on the Board has a term of service of 2 years. Thus,
approximately half the board is elected each year. Members are
encouraged to review our corporate Bylaws which are posted on OpenMPE's
website (http://www.openmpe.org/Articles-Bylaws.htm).

With 9 seats on the Board, this means that in even numbered years 5
will be up for election and in odd numbered years 4 will be subject to
election. This being an odd numbered year (2005), the By-Laws require
that we hold an election for the 4 Board seats expiring in March. The
election is for full two-year terms.

This year the following BOD members/positions will be open for
election:
Birket Foster
Ron Horner
Paul Edwards
Mark Klein

Neither Ron Horner nor Mark Klein are seeking reelection. The BOD
would like to take this opportunity to thank Ron and Mark for their
contributions and service on behalf of OpenMPE and wish them well.
Birket Foster and Paul Edwards are seeking reelection.

The 2005 election will begin during the 2nd week of February and end on
Friday, March 4th. The results will be announced on Monday, March 7th
-- the date of OpenMPE's annual general meeting.

To ensure an adequate number of candidates, the BOD is seeking
candidates for OpenMPE's board for the upcoming election. If you would
like to become a candidate, please send an email to Donna Garverick,
Secretary for the BOD (dgarverick @ longs.com) expressing your desire
to seek election along with a brief discussion of your qualifications.
There is only one requirement for becoming a BOD member -- a commitment
of time. The BOD meets weekly and the participation of the entire
board is critical.

Finally, in order to vote in the upcoming election you must be a member
of OpenMPE. Membership is free and it only takes a few moments to
complete the form (http://openmpe.org/Membership.htm).

2005 is the YEAR OF DECISION! HP will be announcing MPE's fate
sometime in the second half of this year. Show your support for MPE!

Come, my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are.
