Simple solution: Do license TRANSFERs instead of issuing NEW licenses. There
is no shortage of HP-3000 systems and MPE licenses. FYI: The 937SX from
Primary Health just sold on ebay for $1225 and It was a loaded system. From
that I would guess that a MPE license is only worth say $500? As people
migrate, this value will only drop lower.
Given that the issue of third-party code residing in MPE only effects MPE
licenses, no issues should come up with regard to Image, COBOL, FORTRAN, etc?
Further point - I for example have a 937LX with only MPE/iX 4.0 on it. In
the future how will I be able to upgrade this license to 7.5? What 'proof'
will be required that I have legitimate title to this license? It's been a
BIG issue in the past because HP has not accepted many systems as having a
legitimate license.
