Fellow members:

This might be old news to many members but in the April edition of
HPWORLD (Page 45 - Migration from MPE 3000 Special Supplement), B.T. Vikram
Kumer discusses 3k Migration Tools.

To make a long story short, the e-solutions Division in India has developed
a set of e3000 migration components for use on HP-UX. They are as follows:
    COBOL-COBOL (microFocus, ACUCOBOL and PerCobol),
File System and Account/group structure Translator,
Runtime emulator libraries for MPE Interinsics and Commands,
Data Migration (IMAGE, Allbase to Oracle and others),
Runtime emulator Library for Image Intrinsics and
MPE Shell Command Interpreter on HP-UX.

These tools are used by ESD engineers during the re-engineering efforts when
customers engage ESD to migrate their software and being used as such, makes
them NOT-FOR-SALE as standalone products.

It seems to me that if HP really wanted to help their customers, this collection
of products should be made available to each and every customer, without cost,
if the customer decides to go HP-UX.

Maybe Jon Backus would like to pursue this concept with the understanding folks
at HP.

P.S. Could this collection of products run on a Unix based PC ? (MPE on PC)
