OpenMPE Board of Directors members John Wolff and Mark Klein make some
well-reasoned remarks. I either know personally, or by reputation, every
member of the OpenMPE Board. I respect every member and believe them all to
be well-intentioned and reasonable people. However, reasonable people can
differ and I do differ with some of their comments and actions.

Rather than debate point by point here on the list, where I probably can not
influence the Board's direction, I have decided to throw my hat in the ring
for the open position on the Board. I have resisted this in the past for a
variety of reasons, not the least of which are concerns over conflict of
interest and time commitment. However, the frustration of sitting on the
sidelines has gotten the best of me. End of sales has past. Any excuse HP
had for delaying making decisions and commitments has likewise past.

I have formally expressed my interest by e-mail to Ted Ashton as per the
OpenMPE web site. Most OpenMPE members probably know of me. I have worked
with the HP 3000 since 1977. I am currently co-Chair of SIGMPE, vice-chair
MPE Forum, regular contributor (8 years running) to the 3000 Newswire, etc.
With my formal statement of interest I attached a complete professional
biography.

My one promise to the membership is to work hard to keep everyone informed
of the progress or lack of progress toward the goals of OpenMPE.
