Doug,

I would not presume to speak for John Marrah, but in our discussions for
leaving, the reasons were similar. At the time we chose to leave, both
our companies had decided that we could not devote resources to
supporting a migration effort and a continued 3000 effort at the same
time. While our companies would still support our customers as long as
they chose to remain on the 3000, our future R&D were only going to be
on moving to other platforms. We both felt that that position
compromised our board membership, since Open MPE is geared to find ways
to keep the 3000 a viable platform (or at least extend it's life).
Neither of us disagreed with Open MPE or it's goals, we just felt that
it would be better served by board members who were more focused on
emulators, extended support, release of documentation, etc. I
personally have the utmost respect for the other board members and
believe that they have done an exemplary job to this point, as there
will most certainly be many companies in need of their services in a few
years. I may even recommend them to my existing customers who are not
ready to move to another platform at HP end-of-life date, but felt it
best to resign to focus on my companies migration project.
