Several past and present members of OpenMPE have contracts with HP. The
OpenMPE board has by design three members of the vendor community. If
throwing Pivital's hat into the mix is what it takes to keep this process
moving forward then I am more then willing to do that. The last excuse I
want to hear from HP is that they could not find a qualified vendor or
better yet the funding in this years budget.

OpenMPE alone does not have the financial resources today to fund this
project. I believe both Beechglen and Pivital Solutions do. Both Mike and
I, have simply taken the opportunity to once again express our intent to
carry MPE past 2006. If this helps Beechglen, Pivital, or any other company
for that matter to "get their foot in the door of MPE source code access"
then we have achieved our immediate goal, have we not!

I'm pretty sure that in this case HP will feel better paying an individual
contractor to do this investigation for them (with a formal contract and
all) rather than taking advantage of everyone falling all over themselves to
offer "free" services just because they want to get their foot in the door
of MPE source code access :-)

And I don't know how appropriate it would be for an OpenMPE board member to
be competing for contracts with HP.

Anyway, I think HP already has a pretty good idea of who they're going to
hire to do this (no, it's not me).
