Ken Sletten asked me:
>Did the various posts since 13:00 (especially those by Gavin) help clear
that up at least to some extent ? :-)

The answer is a resounding yes. Gavin explanation made clear the scope of
the project from a technical and to some extent political/financial point of
view. I think that this had gotten lost earlier in the week. (At least I no
longer had sight of it.) I understand that there are details to work out on
all fronts.

Rehashing the "Fall of MPE" is not a productive use of time. We can all
agree that "those *&!#$%s at HP had no right" to kill our platform and they
"always liked HP-UX better," etc. but whining and sniveling won't get the
job done. The point is HP owns MPE and we can only hope to negotiate the
best terms to keep MPE alive. As Wirt said in this thread, "MPE is simply
too good an operating system to let die."

Thanks to everyone that has helped, is helping and will continue to help
make Wirt's comment true.
