Jon,
I can answer that for me, though I'm sure everyone else would have there own
reasons. I listen to the OpenMPE-L kind of like I would watch a soap opera,
if I were so inclined. I just listen to it out of curiosity and intrigue to
see the story unfold and where it's going. At the $500 price tag, I as a
hobbyist won't be getting Mpe and an emulator to play with. Since my company
moved away from Mpe 2 years ago, we really have no stake in where it goes,
but with 25 years of history with the HP3000 and MPE, I find it hard to tear
myself away.
So, why am I not a member of OpenMPE? Because it would give me no value.

Subject: Membership
I have a question, can anybody tell me a "good" reason for belonging
to the OpenMPE-L and not wanting to be an OpenMPE member (especially since
membership is at zero cost)? I've not heard any (good or bad) reasons but I
know there is a difference in the number of people in the OpenMPE-L and the
number of people that have registered for membership.
Thanx,
