In fact I am working with OpenMPE to the best of my ability to save the
3000. Im not yelling at you Im just upset at some of your comments.
Comparing a FreeBSD box on an x486 to the 3000 is like comparing a
Volkswagen to the Space shuttle. In terms of seeing the forest through the
trees...I see HP as the forest and the trees are us the users. Slowly but
surely HP has made a concerted effort to cut all the trees down (up until
last week when the chain saws took a break). Last week HP showed a small
minuet sign of being somewhat human. Like the way HP use to be (I remind
you of when HP tried to unbundled Image from MPE...the users spoke and HP
listened) Now with Carly at the helm I fear that both Dave and Bill's
stomach's are turning over and over. Imagine not even having a Hewlett or a
Packard on the board of directors??? Who would of ever thought. Imagine
buying a company like Compaq then laying off 1000s of employees. Yes HP has
changed over the years and not for the better.

I strongly suggest you sit back in your office and really think of what has
really transpired over the past few months. Then and only then can you
really appreciate the impact this has had to the thousands of people plus
their co-workers, their families and yes their children etc that have been
effected. Those who grew up with the 3000 and those that will never know
what a real world class system really is. They'll certainly know what an
IBM-PC is or a MAC and maybe even HP-UX but they will never have the
enjoyment we had using this kind of system. That a shame :(

You can blame your good friends at the CSY for that

Sorry, dude. You're yelling at the wrong person. You can use whatever
four letter words you want, but I think you can't see the forest
through the trees.

I've got 27 years on the platform, and my desire is to retire, still
working on the platform at that time. But, I'm also a realist. I am
working with others that think through small steps, we can accomplish
the long term goal of some type of MPE beyond EOL. We have made
sincere and significant progress. There is a long way to go, but at
least there is an alternate and possible future that didn't exist a
few months back.

Can you and the others that are bellyaching about what is going on
say that you are actively working with the OpenMPE or Interex
communities to ensure that future? I don't think so.

So, either help us, or shut up. Complaining about the progress helps
no one.
