As far as I recall, the renumbering in batch mode predates the
interactive one. It was added somewhere in the timeline of VPLUS
enhancements for Y2K. For example, there is an article on this
subject on the Communicator for MPE/iX 5.5 PowerPatch 3 that has
a hint regarding VPLUS version B.06.07 or later...
