I got the same message about mine and it had expired in August 2005. My customers no better than HP and most of my customers that have choosen UNIX have chosen a different vendor. HP has not done a good job at all of retaining good staff as well as good customers. I still think the other shoe will fall when it comes to supporting HP-UX come 12/31/2006 or soon there after.

When I contacted HP via e-mail I got the following from an overseas contact. Yeah you contact me.
So what is HP doing about the MANY internal systems that are still running critical business?
Lets ask HP how many systems have been converted and what are the success stories as well as the ones that have not yet been converted and have HP give us a time frame for completion. See the good thing about a public company is they should let the public know correct?

I gave a bunch of years caring about HP but I could give a rats arse now. HP is in the rear view mirror.

Hi Joe,

The MPE/iX System Administration certification expired on August 2005.

Please do contact us if you have any issues or concerns.

Mike will look into our issue but in the end HP will do NOTHING to clear any issue regarding the HP3000 platform or it's users.

>
> In my email inbox recently was the message shown below from the HP
> Certification Program Manager and a similar message concerning my HP Star
> certifications. I logged into the certification site as noted in their
> message to verify the status of my certifications. The only access I was
> allowed was the ability to update my profile. All access to other parts of
> the site was denied.
>
> I contacted Rich Gossman at HP for an explanation, since MPE/iX is still a
> supported operating system and I felt my certifications were still valid. He
> told me that the division had declined to continue to fund the certification
> program for over 50 MPE/iX professionals that hold the System Administration
> certification. He also discussed with me the major changes, additions, and
> consolidations that were made to the whole certification program after the
> merger with Compaq. The lack of continuing the HP Star certifications is
> understandable since the date of the end of sales of the HP3000 has passed.
>
> Mike Paivinen of HP's vCSY was contacted to gain his assistance to resolve
> the issues. I pointed out to him that it was like college graduates who are
> notified by the university that their degree is no longer valid.
> Additionally, MPE/iX certification holders who may want to certify for
> additional HP certifications in other areas will be discouraged to do so
> because they can't access most of the HP site. The internal cost to continue
> the program for the MPE/iX certified community by vCSY has to be minimal.
>
> Because Alden Research, Inc and Paul Edwards & Associates have just signed
> an agreement with HP to assume the responsibility for MPE training, Mike was
> asked about the possibility of acquisition of the certification testing

> added as part of that agreement.
>
> MPE/iX professionals deserve to have their certifications continue in force
> for as long as they are actively involved with the HP3000 platform. There is
> no reason to end the certification qualification even though HP made the
> decision to discontinue the testing process. Besides, HP has had no new

>
> Mike agreed to investigate the funding issue, the reinstatement of the
> MPE/iX certifications, the certification testing issue, and the future of
> the MPE/iX certification process. I will update the HP Certified
