Wayne,

Funny you should mention source code. That is our next "big" project.
It's perfectly clear that HP is not going to release the MPE/iX Operating
System and sub-system source code to the wild. In fact, based on discussion
in this group a year ago, most of us wouldn't want that anyway. I wrote an
article about this topic a couple of months back in the NewsWire. It
basically calls for the creation of a virtual lab (vLab) out side of HP,
made up of various highly talented and experienced MPE systems level
professionals. This OpenMPE vLab would then be granted read/write access to
the source code so that bug fixes (and possibly even enhancements) could be
made after 2006. This topic is a huge one and many details will need to be
defined and worked out, but we have already turned an eye towards it. At
the same time, we can not lose focus on the MPE licensing issue and the
"PA-RISC" emulator creation issue. There is much work to be done.

Thanx,
        Jon

I thought that I was positive about the announcement! It is good news! Not
perfect news but good news. But I really really do want to start mentioning
source code again....
