To pointlessly extend the conjecture,
Mike's point-
Well old grandpa must have been sipping to much Old Grandad Whiskey. Check
this link about european rabbits in Australia. Watch the wrap

Referring to Chuck's response-
Hmm.. good point.
Wolves are very intelligent, stealthy and hard to kill.
Rabbits, a common staple for wolves, are much easier to trap and kill and
thus their population can be kept down by a more direct means.
At least that is what old grandpa had to say.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
To Paul's witticism-
> Explain to me again how hunting wolves allows then to
> flourish, but hunting
> the food supply makes the food supply to diminish...
> Shouldn't the food
> supply flourish too?
About Chuck's leading remark-
Say you had a patch of forest that had an over abundance of wolves. How
would you go about reducing this number?
1) Hunt the wolves?
This would just weed out the less successful specimens and allow the others
to breed. End result, more wolves.
2) Hunt the Wolves food?
Less food means less new wolves born as the old wolves die off. End result,
fewer wolves.
Bin Laden is a wolf, the Arab governments and charities that support him
are
his food supply. To control the terrorists we must cut off their source of
money and weapons. Any other approach is futile.
So, if we just relocate the terrorist financial rabbits to locations having
no natural predatory restrictions, they will turn from sponsoring the Bin
Ladens of the world and become over the top philanthropists?
Maybe I've just followed this thread to loosely, or for to long.
