I reported this to the RC several months ago. It was noticed at our site
right after we updated to MPE 6.0. I know that a patch is out to fix it but
I cannot remember if it is GR yet; I lost track of the exact patch id since
we have been testing lots of ftp patches here. There were lots of small ftp
problems introduced in 6.0 that we have run into. You should contact the RC
to get the correct patch.

Subject: [HP3000-L] FTP failure on empty file
We have noticed that in a batch job, FTP fails with an empty file, but the
job
does not abort. Here is an example. Our work-around, of course, will be to
WRITE
or ECHO some text into the file with zero records.
Is this a known problem?
ftp> put hebdbnpm
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for hebdbnpm.
426 Connection closed; transfer aborted.
SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION. (SOCKERR 0)
ftp> dir
200 PORT command successful.
