Chris, for CSTM to work correctly, you must have a network up. CSTM needs to
be able to resolve an IP address to a node name. It will look in the NSDIR,
HOSTS.NET.SYS etc to be able to do this. I have fixed a number of these
problems by adding an entry to the HOSTS file.

But this is only part of the problem. If you shutdown your network, without
the diagnostic daemons being shutdown, and then restart your network, the
daemons cannot communicate correctly with the system to obtain the necessary
information. The latest diagnostics patch ODILXG0 (6.5), and ODILXT4 (7.0)
contain the latest fixes, but also contain the stmshut.diag.sys and
stmstart.diag.sys. These programs need to be incorporated into your
processes when you stop and start your network, but are not needed when you
first boot the system. If you do a 'showproc pin=1;system;tree' with the
daemons started you will see:

C13 * 0:33.303 WAIT 55 (/usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/sys/diagmond)
C13 0:01.526 WAIT 66
(/usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/sys/diaglogd)
C13 0:01.544 WAIT 56 (/usr/sbin/stm/uut/bin/sys/memlogd)

The stmstart and stmshut will stop and start these daemons.
