Gentle Listers,

Today at UNIX Expo here in New York, HP, Novell and SCO had an announcement
to make. It seems that they are all getting in bed together to promote UNIX
and Novell Netware. It seems that HP is going to be in the driver seat for
UNIX and that they will be pushing forward this operating system to run on
the product of the HP/INTEL alliance. This 64-bit chip is supposedly
forthcoming.

No mention was made of the HP3000.

It seems the battle lines have been drawn, HP & Novell & SCO with Netware and
UNIX vs DIGITAL and Microsoft with NT. My guess? HP has used a Vulcan
Phalanx to shoot itself in the foot, it did not want to miss but they only
got off a 30 second string (about 2000 rounds of 20MM depleted Uranium
shells.)

I tried to get a press release, but was only able to glance at one for a few
minutes, it was over 5 pages long. I will try again tomorrow before leaving
UNIX Expo and going back to my 3000.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .
