I is funny that you would pick the main processor board as an example. We to
were faced with this question from our accounting department a few years ago.
It just so happened that we did need the main processor replaced and asked the
service guy what it would cost us without a contract. The figure that came back
was high enough that they never asked  again about canceling the service
contract.
