Guess that means you didn't read the announcement before telling
us about it? :)

BTW, they carefully didn't call it the "World's fastest microprocessor",
just the "World's fastest PC microprocessor".

The same note was in our local newspaper's Computing section recently,
and there was a letter to the editor yesterday (?) from someone at DEC,
complaining that their CPU was faster :)

I did some searching, and found that the MIPS R6000 (?) is called
the "World's fastest supercomputer microprocessor".

DEC has some extremely fast Alpha chips, including the Alpha AXP 21164,
billed as "World's highest performance microprocessor, featuring
speeds greater than one billion instructions per second (BIPS) "
