Yes it is.

A customer of mine recently purchased a LaserJet5Si in order to replace an
existing 4Si, which was attached to the HP3000 both serially, via DTC port,
and to the network, via internal lan card.

When the 5Si arrived, the required serial card did not show up - so the
serial card from the 4Si was simply removed and installed in the appropriate
spare slot in the 5Si.

Still continues to work like a charm.

Sorry, I don't have the part number. It may well be that a serial card from
the 3Si could work as well.

One other thing you should be aware of. Because the 4Si serial card was
designed for the uppper slot, a metal protrusion had to be bent out the way
with a pair of pliers before it could be made to fit in the 5Si.
