I have what I believe to be an excellent but off-topic question for some of
our membership. I worked with Macintosh System 7 when it was new. Was that
nine years ago? Now, I need to quickly and cheaply come back up to speed on
what would normally be found at a business, as well as what should be,
especially for an environment that includes Wintel PCs and some servers (one
of my first questions for this "engagement" is what OS these servers run).
Just buying an iMac is not practical for me at this time. Off list replies
are preferred, and I will try to summarize.

As one of the joys and privileges of working for a consulting firm, I am
being asked to play a role on a project where approximately two out of three
users have Macintosh. This will be at a company where I believe most of the
employees have done graduate work in their field, where most of the
Executive Officers on their web site have earned doctorates (the two that do
not are in Operations and Finance, and their pedigrees in those areas are
similarly impressive). I figure in might be smart to brush up a bit before
walking into this meeting.

            SET HUMOR TO TRUE
The irony is, no one here knew that I had Mac experience, since that is not
on my current resume. Rather, I was tapped because of other experience in
the business function. I have made a few jokes about what I would have to do
to get an assignment involving additional HP 3000 responsibilities, such as
announce I never want to work on one, ever again. Then that would guarantee
it ;-)
