Brian,
Your list only includes technologies. Have you considered "soft" skills such as project management? Something that is not linked to the "technology-of-the-day". I don't mean to say there are more jobs in these fields but they may not become obsolete as fast as technology.

three individuals who got very lucky indeed.

Assembly Language
Are they really worth my while or am I just kidding myself on ?
