You should be able to set a file equation for the root file of the
database. Something like ":file mydb.data=mydb.testdata". When you have the
root file equated to a different location, then all of the other files
associated with the database are "magically equated" as well.

This will work as long as the software that opens the image database wasn't
written to explicitly ignore file equations. If it was, then you have a bit
of work ahead of you...
