Last Friday my HP947 was being moved between building, and in the process it
slid off the lift gate of the moving truck falling about 3 feet, damaging it
to the point where it is not worth attempting to repair. Nice way to start
a weekend. I have secured an HP957 as a replacement system. This new
system will be arriving hopefully by Friday and would like to get it back up
and online ASAP.

My main concern is how can I install from my old SLT tape, or is this even
possible. The 947 had 5.5 Express 7 with one reactive patch. The new 957
will arrive with 5.5 Express 7, and hopefully the same reactive patch.

Now my questions...Can I simply update the new system from the SLT cut just
prior to the move? Will this bring in all my HP software from my Subsys
tape along with batches? Would it be better the reinstall from my Subsys
tape? Could I do an install from the SLT, and clean up the system in
sysgen, and install the disks and other items?

I understand that I will have some specific files to restore in order to
bring back my network/dtc setting, and have been in contact with various
software vendors as the cpuname and susan number changes.

What I am looking for is some guidance or suggestion on how I can get this
done with the least amount of effort, in the shortest period of time without
jeopardizing the integrity of the operating system.

If I have missed anything feel free to contact me, as I am looking for help,
and know this is the place to ask.

John
