I gather that you've done the obvious
/text oxxxx.out.hpspool
/find mypaycheck
/change \1,000\1,000,000\*
/k,y;exit
and discovered that because your file contains CCTL, probably created by
COBOL and probably using the AFTER ADVANCING construct, that when you print
the changed file, your formfeeds happen at the wrong time, though "nothing's
changed", right?
The trick is that the spooler in its infinite wisdom somehow strips the
first couple of records from your file which are critical. Just put them
back; they are
C
A
in which these characters are in the CCTL slot (call it position zero?), and
mean...
C Set single-space option, no auto page eject
A Set pre-space option.
The first one's not nearly as important as the second, but you need them
both most likely. The second, 'pre-space' option, overrides the
hardware-default action of print-then-space with the much-easier-to-program
space-then-print action.
